Boardwalk Section Guide

Page Section

Everything you need to set up and customize the Page section — from displaying your store page content and adjusting the heading size to configuring padding and applying a color scheme.

About

A page in Shopify is a standalone piece of content that lives outside of your blog or product catalog. Pages are commonly used for information that doesn't change often, such as an "About Us" story, a "Contact Us" form, shipping policies, FAQs, or any other static content you want visitors to find easily.

In the Boardwalk theme, the Page section is the main content area of every page template. It automatically displays the page's title and body content that you've written in the Shopify admin. The content is centered within a clean, readable column layout with customizable heading size, vertical padding, and color scheme support.

How to Set Up the Page Section

Follow these steps to create a page and configure how it looks in your Boardwalk theme.

1
Create a Page in the Shopify Admin

In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Pages and click Add page. Enter a title and body content using the rich text editor. The title you enter here will be displayed as the heading on the page, and the body content will appear below it.

Note: You must create at least one page in the Shopify admin before it can be displayed on your storefront. The Page section pulls its title and content directly from what you've entered under Online Store → Pages.

2
Open the Theme Editor

Go to Online Store → Themes, find Boardwalk, and click Customize. Use the page selector dropdown at the top center of the editor to navigate to Pages and select the page you want to customize.

3
Select the Page Section

In the Theme Editor sidebar, click on the Page section. This is the built-in section that displays your page title and content. It is included by default in the page template.

4
Configure the Section Settings

Adjust the heading font size, choose a color scheme, and set the top and bottom padding to control spacing. These settings let you fine-tune the look and feel of the page without editing any content.

5
Save and Preview

Click Save in the Theme Editor. Preview your page to verify the title, content, and overall appearance are displaying as expected.

Section-Level Settings

These settings apply to the entire Page section and are accessible by clicking the Page section in the Theme Editor sidebar.

Page Section Settings

Heading font size

Controls the size of the page title text on desktop. Range: 30px to 50px.

Color scheme

Select any defined color scheme to style the section background and text. This changes the overall appearance of the entire page section including the heading and body content.

Top padding

Controls the amount of space above the page content. Range: 0px to 100px.

Bottom padding

Controls the amount of space below the page content. Range: 0px to 100px.

Built-In Features

The Page section comes with features that work automatically — no apps or custom code needed.

Feature Overview

Automatic title and content

The section automatically pulls in the page title and body content from the Shopify admin. Any changes you make under Online Store → Pages will be reflected on your storefront without needing to edit the theme.

Rich text support

The body content area supports rich text formatting from the Shopify admin editor. This means you can use bold, italic, links, lists, headings, images, and other formatting within your page content.

Centered, readable layout

Page content is displayed in a centered column with a maximum width of 726 pixels. This keeps text at a comfortable reading width on all screen sizes and gives the page a clean, focused appearance.

Full-width color backgrounds

While the content stays centered, the section background stretches the full width of the screen. This means the color scheme you choose will fill the entire section area behind the content.

Consistent body typography

The body content automatically uses your theme's body font family, style, and weight. This ensures the page text matches the typographic style of the rest of your store without any extra configuration.

Admin Steps and Requirements

Some features require action in the Shopify admin before they'll work as expected in your theme.

Before You Begin

Pages must be created first

The Page section displays content from a page you've created in the Shopify admin. Go to Online Store → Pages, click Add page, and enter your title and body content. Without a page created, the section will have nothing to display.

Page visibility

Make sure the page is set to Visible in the Shopify admin. If the page is hidden, it won't be accessible to visitors on your storefront. You can check this in the page editor under the Visibility setting in the right sidebar.

Page template assignment

To use the Boardwalk Page section, make sure the page is assigned to a template that includes it. In the Shopify admin page editor, look for the Theme template dropdown in the right sidebar and select the appropriate page template.

Content is managed in the admin

The page title and body text are entered and edited in the Shopify admin under Online Store → Pages — not in the Theme Editor. The Theme Editor only controls how that content looks (font size, padding, color scheme), not what it says.

Color schemes

The section uses a color scheme to style its background and text. These color schemes are defined in Online Store → Themes → Customize → Theme settings → Colors. Make sure you've set up the color schemes you want to use before configuring this section.

Frequently Asked Questions

Page content is managed in the Shopify admin, not in the Theme Editor. Go to Online Store → Pages, select your page, and edit the title or body content using the rich text editor. Any changes you save there will automatically appear on your storefront.
Yes. The Shopify page editor supports rich text, which includes the ability to insert images, videos, tables, and links directly into the body content. These will display within the centered content area of the Page section.
Check two things. First, make sure the page is set to Visible in the Shopify admin page editor (under the Visibility setting in the right sidebar). Second, confirm that the page is assigned to a theme template that includes the Page section. If the page is hidden or using the wrong template, it won't display as expected.
The content area has a fixed maximum width of 726 pixels, which is optimized for comfortable reading. This width is not adjustable through the Theme Editor settings. If you need a wider layout, consider using a different page template or adding additional sections alongside the Page section.
Yes. The page template supports additional sections. In the Theme Editor, you can click Add section to place other sections — such as an image banner, FAQ, or contact form — above or below the Page section to build out a more complete page layout.
